I am a dedicated cast HP fan, and don't see many things a condom HP can do that can't be replicated by a cast HP. How many other HP fans are out there? Tony

Orygun, yep, you and Beagle are already counted and deserve credit for a big part of my HP education. Reading Mr. Keith and Mr. Skelton got me started, but you guys provided the current info and tools. Tony

I enjoy using .44 cal HP boolits. 'Specially those coming from a 4 cavity mould! But, then you knew that!--Shuz

I shoot cast hp in 44, 357 and 32 mag, which are all the handguns I reload for. I like em!

I would use them exclusively if I wasn't so impatient in making boolits. Besides, beer cans can't tell the difference anyway. On the other hand, HP boolits are more accurate when twist is intentionally marginal. ... felix

I use the #457122HP in the .45-70 and #429244HP in .44 Magnum. The latter, incidentally, was the first cast bullet I ever saw. My uncle with an early Model 29 cast those and gave me one when I was a kid. That was a mould high on my list to acquire.

Incidentally, although I've shot plenty of 'em, I've always thought that jacketed bullets for things like magnum revolvers were silly.

I used to cast and shoot a lot of HP .30 cal bullets. They were extremely accurate and did quite a number on varmits. But then I got lazy and decided the small gain in performance wasn't worth the extra hassle involved making HP.

Just a good blunt nosed cast bullet will do about the same damage and about 25% faster to build.

I might add that due to the low velocity of pistol bullets, I suspect the difference between an HP and a good SWC is almost nill so far as performance is concerned.

Pecos, I'll gladly buy any HP molds you have gathering dust if you want to sell them. I used wet newspaper to test condom HPs against cast in the 357, 45 ACP, and 44 Mag, and the cast won every time. This was with "pure" WW alloy. Like Felix said, HP molds are slow but I think they are well worth the effort. Tony
