marlinlover, here's a link to honing a sizing die. http://www.castpics.net/RandD/hone_a_die/hone_a_die.htm Actually, if I'm honing out a Lee, I just split an appropriate size wooden dowel a couple inches with a saw. Then wrap 400 grit emery paper around it for a tight fit in the die and chuck it in a drill. I find 400 will take it off fast enough for a thou. or 2. Check often though or you may get too much. I finish with 600 grit. I don't consider a couple thou. to mean the boolit is much bigger than the bore. If you can chamber a boolit that's 2 or 3 thou. larger than the bore, the bore will size it appropriately. Also, if possible your boolit should engage the rifling, not be set back from it. "If the chamber throat is much larger than the bullet, but I'm still right up close to the rifling, does that mean the bullet just will expand to much?" No, I don't think so. But you may get the beginning of gas cutting. To me, it's Let's do everything we can to keep the chamber and bore sealed to eliminate any possibility of hot powder gasses hitting the sides of the boolit. Maybe this'll help, maybe not but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Regards, Woody

THanks Woody... Well, I cast some of the 311284's and loaded a light 12 grs of SR 4756 lubed with Wonder Lube 1000 plus. Sized them at .309. My Eddystone with the .312 bore, put em' in one ragged hole at 50 yrds. This is all I can shoot behind the house on account of a mountian, and I ain't lettin' no bees stop me.. The Remington with the .309 bore sighted in with about 3" groups. You'd think it would be the other way around, but I still have got some nasty jacket fouling to get out of the barrel yet. After tons of sweets and other cleaners and a bunch of brushes, it still is not cleaned out. No sign of leading on my Eddystone. It's got a 1918 barrel, and is a tack driver.
