Does anybody out there have a 180 Gr. SWCGC mold in .358 that they have cast bullets from already? I would like to see if I might get someone to cast about 25 or 50 of these for me to buy so I can try before I buy a mold and see if my rifle will shoot them good. Intended target will be Whitetail back home if they cooperate. Steve E........ [ 08-12-2003, 02:34: Message edited by: Steve E. ]

Thanks John, I look forward to testing those bullets, let me know the mold #, so if they work good for me I want to buy one. Bullet molds are just about 100% mail order over here in Hawaii. Can't wait till we get back to America. Thanks again. Steve E........

Steve, I recommend that you get over to Koko Head and meet some of the folks from the Philipino shooting club, they have lots of contacts. When I was stationed there, I managed to find lots of goodies that I wouldn't have found without the help of local shooters. The gun shows at the convention center used to have some good stuff available. If all else fails, work with Midsouth shooters supply and MAKE SURE you specify USPS and NOT UPS.... UPS TO Hawaii is killer! lucky you live Hawaii Brah! regards, Graycg

I have already talked to some of the guys there, been to all the shops on Island and a few of the places run out of the guys garages, and when I decide on the brand of mold It'll be cheaper for me to order it from Midsouth, Graf or Natchez. A couple of the guys from Koko Head said "Yeah I got dat mole bruddah, I no use for long time yeah, if I findum you like me bring some". John is sending me some from his LBT mold, don't know what kind of mold Kimo has. I learned back in 90 about people sending me stuff over here Post Orifice instead UPS. Thanks. Steve E........

Steve - You can get all you want here at this link: http://www.proshootpro.com/freebullets.htm I used to shoot a 170 gr SWCGC bullet in a .357 Marlin and it loved the bullet. You won't have any problem, although you may need to get the bullets slightly oversized...like .358 maybe?

Shipping to Hawaii would make those cost prohibitive...I cast my own there and got my lead from the guys over at the Silly-wet range, one of the guys sells alloy ingots cast in cupcake pans for very fair prices. If you can find Ed Masaki, he knows everyone there and if it can be found in Hawaii, he'll let you know. What are you shooting and what are you going to use the bullet for. Would the RCBS 180 grain silly-wet bullet meet your needs? It isn't a SWC per say, more pointed than not. Very accurate in my 357 max, but designed to hit steel hard, not make clean holes in paper or flesh. I have a 180 grain LBT that I'll be buried with, but mould was custom cut for my gun. If you want a custom mould made there are several makers that can make them for you for under $100. The RCBS will cost you around $50. If you are interested, contact me at graycg@aol.com and we can discuss any help I can provide you. I have custom moulds from several makers and can tell you what I know. regards, Graycg

I'll be using it in a Marlin 1894S 44 mag rechambered to 357x44 Bain & Davis for Whitetail back home in Mississippi.I've been to Ed's place a couple of times, great guy, he ordered in some bullets for my 357 Sig that nobody else could suppossedly get. I love his shop, barely room to walk, have to step over and around stuff, he has stuff piled up in there that doesn't look like it has been moved for 40 years. I would love to be able to look through all that stuff, boy at the treasures you might find. I'll talk to Ed in a couple of weeks at the Gun Show at where else but the Blaisdell Center. I looked at the RCBS design and would like a more SWC design for the Whitetail. So far the LBT mold looks the best. Thanks for the info. Steve E........

Thanks John M, I got the bullets yesterday, the gas check ones are just the profile I'm looking for. Were those tumble lubed, and what kind of lube is it? Sorry don't have the 45 mold. Can't wait to try them in my Marlin. I'm sending off some reimbursement today. Thanks again for that is the exact ones I'm looking for. Steve E.......
