I posted this in reloading in another form of question. I was wondering if anyone knew what bullet might have been used. It was shot as cast in the garand with a case full of powder. They just dipped the case in a box of powder and levelled it at the top. The bullet was a cast Lyman style I believe? Around 210 grains and it must be pointed somewhat to feed in the Garand? Thanks for your data. Packy

It could be any number of different Lyman bullets but I'd guess #311299 or #311284 both of which have a fairly pointed nose and depending on the alloy would fall into the weight range you asked about. I don't know if Lyman still makes "299" but "284 is still available. The "299" was slightly lighter than "284" but that could change some depending on the alloy. I ahve the "284" and am always looking for the "299" to try out. Anyway, that's my best guess on the bullet. Paul B.
