The previous theread was getting too long, so I'm starting another one.

I'm kinda surprised at the response -- 30+ handles, if I counted correctly.

OK, here's the deal. Lee won't give any volume discounts for "only" 40-60 handles, and their $12/handle price is firm.

Midway sells the same handles for right at $11/handle, and shipping will add about another .50 shipped in bulk. So, we're looking at $11.50/ mold delivered to me.

Now it gets a little complicated. I can get up to three handles into one Priority Mail envelope for $3.85 (say, $4). It will cost the same to ship one handle as it does two or three handles. And, 4-6 handles will require two envelopes at $4 each. If you want me to do this, I want $1.50 per order for up to 3 handles, $2.00 for 4 or more handles (NOT per handle, $1.50 or $2.00/order) for tape, nuisance, and arguing about it with my postmistress. <GGG> [Whole 'nuther story there....]

So, if you guys are still interested in the deal, this would be the price structure:

1 handle - 11.50+4.00+1.50 = $17.00
2 handles - 23.00+4.00+1.50 = 28.50
3 handles - 34.50+4.00+1.50 = 40.00
----------------------------------
4 handles - 46.00+8.00+2.00 = 56.00
5 handles - 57.50+8.00+2.00 = 67.50
6 handles - 69.00+8.00+2.00 = 79.00

Before I lay out $500 or so to order these handles, I need some idea from y'all if you still want to go ahead with this deal. We won't be dealing directly with Lee, so that part of the advantages won't be a factor. And, we'll probably deplete Midway's warehouse stocks, and some will likely be backordered thus delaying at least some of the deliveries to you.

I like your idea about this being a CastPics project. It would seem to be far easier on the manual labor end as compared to the massive undertaking the FWFL was. If indeed Sundog takes it on he could count on me for a pair of handles,and if not the grumble himself can count me in for a pair. 45nut

It would seem enthusiasm for this group buy has diminished somewhat now that we see the prices would be more than buying form a regular retailer. To quote Jump, "HAR!!" <GGG>

Shipping is a deal killer on low cost items like this. It was a neat idea, though.

No Grumble, at least for me the price wasn't the killer, it was the fact that we wouldn't build any "Political Capital" with the folks in Lee's custom shop. Price on this deal was minimal impact.

If enough people still want to do it, then I'll go also, but if not, then I'll just order a few from Midway.

You might try bulk pricing the mold handles at FM reloading or Factory Sales. Both are less expensive than dealing with Lee directly. On the other hand I have read that Lee will treat a C&R license as a regular FFL - with dealer prices if you have a C&R license.

since my named was mentioned.... First, not in the market for any new projects right now, and don't rightly see this to be a fund raiser for castpics. Now, I've been asettin' back watchin' this thread with mild curiousity, because I simply ordered a couple handles from ..., well, don't remember if it was Midway or Midsouth. Regular stock. Came in a cupple days, hit the card at the eom, and already paid for. If this was a special run and get in on a good deal, I might see it differnt. Don't let me throw a wet blanket on it though.
