How many people would go in on a run of LEE 6 cav molds? Since the original came out at 233gns, maybe make this one at 180 or 200gns?
Cast your votes here, I'll try to post this at aimoo.com also.
I'd like a 180 gn .358 mold.

Lar, I'd like to have a 200-grainer too, but not in a 2-holer. It would be a high volume shooter for me, and I'd want it in a 6-hole block.

I'd like to see a 6 holer in 180gr. I am looking to use this in 357 mag pistols. IF the group goes to 200 gr I'd just have to get a 35 rem marlin. Count me in either way. I can also use to 200 in 357 max. But I would like a 6 holer.

I want the sixshooter. Either 200 or 220 would suit me.

Brian, 1'm going into this for a Maxed H&R. I'm shooting Lyman 358315 now and they are coming out at 212 grains. Another 8 grains ain't gonna hurt nothing.

I'm also getting the same velocity fron the 212 I get from the 180s. Seems that WC-680 works better with the heavier bullet.

Leftoverdj,
I have a Ruger SRM 357 Max with a 10 in bull barrel. I also have 14 in max barrel for the Contender. This mold would be a good reason to dig those guys out. I kind of gave up factory Contender barrels because of the long freebore. I see it as a pressure reduction system that isn't compatable with cast bullets.

Even though I spoke up on one of the other boards I would love it IF it were cut back to NO MORE than 200 grains, and preferably down to 180 to 190 and ONLY in a sixholer.
Oughta take up some of the slack in the Max barrels chamber and may be a great performer out of the Herrett also! Cutting some nose or driving band and LEAVING the two crimping grooves ought to get the weigh down in the range needed/desired. Something like 0.1-0.15" if my guestimation method has much validity.

Keep us posted and tell us when it is time to
put-up or shut-up as they say! [Smile]

I have two maxs, ones a Ruger, the other is a Silver Seville. I also have a 357 Herret barrel for the TC and I picked up a Rossi 92 .357 mag. I'll keep a count of who speaks up and see if there is enough interest for a run of the Lee 6 holers.

I would be interested in a 200 grain or less in a 6 holer.

I'd get a 200 or 180 mold. 2 or 6 holes, doesn't matter; I'd get either.

I'm in for 6 holer prefer 200 grains but could live with the 180. Not interested in 2 holer 200, already have one, but would consider the 180 2 holer....BUT I really like the 6 holers.

You can count me in, but ONLY for the 6 cavity mold.

After I got a Lee 6 cavity in .358 for the heavy Bator bullet, I can't go back to 1 or 2 cavity molds!

The quality of the Lee 6 cavity molds is SO much better, and they produce bullets SO nice and fast!

My other thought didn't pan out, so it will be for a LEE 6 holer if we get enough interest.

I'd be good for either 180 or 200 but would prefer 200 for a couple of .35 Remingtons. I could make a decent light round for my .35 Whelen too. Six at a time of course.

Looks like we might be stuck at 14 [Frown]

I emailed LEE sugesting that they add this to their regular product line as they don't have a real 35cal rifle mold. It would seem that Midway and Midsouth would stock it also if it was a regular production item.

??????????????????????

I'm not really in a position to bank roll this one at the moment. I thought I'd see if there was enough interest and then run it through Midsouth so everybody could pay on there own. If we do a smaller run then we would just have to splitup the $100 setup fee. So far there is 14 folks interested. so $100/14 = $7.14 then add the price of the mold. If the soup cans went for $40 then $47 + shipping still wouldn't be too bad. I'd still be in for this. I wonder if we could have LEE do this and charge everyone individually?
14 molds * $40 = $560 + $100 setup = more than the wife would let me play with currently. $660/14 = $47.14 each.

Things to think about.

Lar, Lee won't do that, and I doubt Midsouth will either because of the extremely slow response on the other batch of molds we (our group) did through them.

Getting these custom molds done requires someone to gather the checks and make the order.

From Midsouth
---------------------------------
Glenn,
It is possible to do smaller than 25 units at a time w/ Lee, but to be fair and honest to you, it would be cheaper for you to contact Lee and order them yourself. I will do more checking, but I believe that if we order less than 25 units they will charge me full retail price, which you can purchase at. By the time I order them and try to make a little bit of money, you and the 13 other interested parties will be paying a higher price from me. I will check into this more, but that's my gut feeling for now.

Thanks,

Chris
Midsouth
-------------------

I wrote an email to Lee suggesting that they make a standard offering of a C358-180-RF as they don't currently have any 35cal rifle molds offered.

Who knows.

In the interests of getting this deal moving, I'd be willing to order 2 6 holers...figure I can use one and hold on to the other and sell it to someone who will want one once we start talking about how happy we are after we get them. Maybe everyone else could consider picking up a spare? Not trying to break your bank, just a thought.

Graycg

I was keeping track of what people spoke up for and it seemed to be a fairly even split between 180 and 200. I don't know a thing about boolit design so I was thinking about just shortening the original one. someone requested that the nose be slightly small in diameter as they were haveing trouble with seating deep for chambering purposes. There was also a thought about makeing it a 200gn with a long gascheck shank so those of us that wanted a 180 could have it milled shorter. I would be willing to do the milling with the understanding that I'm not a machinist.

Definitely interested in a 6 cavity mold but no lighter than 200 gr. & preferably heavier as this would also be used for hunting. Ron.D
