Does anyone have starting/max loads for AA 5744 in a M94 32 Win Spl, using RCBS 32-170-FN? I've seen references that shooters like this powder for the RCBS bullet, but can't find any load data. Thanks, Mike

Lyman lists 18-24 gr 5744 with 170-3 gr cast bullets in the 30-30. Should be close enough for the .32 Special. I use 23 gr under a 311041 for 1950 fps out of my M94 Carbine. Larry Gibson

Mike, You can check a burn rate chart and consider the following for cast bullets. 4759 and 5744 have very similar burn rates and charge weights. That said the RCBS cast bullet hand book is often available pretty cheap on Ebay. I guess it was not popular. Any way my copy has data for 4759 for that bullet Starting load 16.0 grains 1519 fps Top load 18.0 grains 1721 fps Looks like the design was intended for gas checks. For 5744 data that should be close look at Accurate arms web site. They have data for the 30-30 and the 32-40. The 30-30 has the same weight bullet with a smaller bore and should be safe data. The 32-40 is a lower pressure round with smaller capacity so those loads should be safe also. Lyman's cast bullet handbook might have it also. Keep in mind that both 4227s are similar too.

Thanks guys. I was going to use the Accurate data for 30-30 if no one came up with the 32 Win Spl load. Have some loaded up for my next time at the range. Mike
