I bought a bunch of these cast gas check bullets, does anyone have any load data for them. I have data for 300 and 350 jacketed stuff but nothing for cast GC 320 grain NRA Life Member, ILL Rifle Assoc Life Member, Navy

raamw It would make answering your question easier if we knew what cartridge. Jim "Whensoever the General Government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force." --Thomas Jefferson

I've shot "350 gr" GC cast bullets, but weigh yours - mine actually wiegh about 330gr. You'll probably find your "320's" weigh closer to 300gr. From the Lyman Cast manual, I've used 35gr of RL7 (i use a filler) Fed 215 (that's the only primer I have) and they're good for about 1700 through my Oehler. That loads from memory, so double check it in the Lyman Cast manual. PS - that load shoots about 4" HIGH in my bolt guns and bout 4" LOW in my doubles.

hummm... does anyone know if that weight accuracy speaks to how soft they might be?

Typically "light" bullets are harder, assuming no heat treating. I use the fingernail test, if I can easily scratch the bullets, they are soft, if my nail won't do any damage no matter how heard I try, they are hard. I find water quenched wheelweight bullets can be slightly marked with a nail, and air cooled ones readily scratched. The commercial hard cast bullets show no effect to the nail test. __________________________________________________ The AR series of rounds, ridding the world of 7mm rem mags, one gun at a time.
