Not to hijack the thread, but, a gundealer friend of mine says there is a bill under consideration ( on someone's desk or something like that ) right now that would have 2 one week seasons with anything centerfire rifle. Now I don't think they will allow anything more than pistol cartridges in rifles. ( That is just MY opinion.)WARNING- this is all rumor as far as I know. I have seen nothing written on it. But this guy has had some insights before, soooo.....

I think deer and quail should be equal- limit 5 each day!!!! LOL- it might be hard to drag 5 out at one time, though! And permits should only cost you IF you don't get your deer(*&%&^%#&^$&^#@!!^$&Wink.

Anyway, I thought this bullet- maybe cast of WW with check on base and stuffed in .357 carbine- might be just the medicine if such a bill were passed. Hmmmmm..... sounds like FUN! Dale

I've seen some of those 45/70 pistols, whould that count as a pistol cartridge? <G> I think some places have a stright case rifle cartridge rule and that works OK.

Hi Ed! I really don't know- There is a minimum energy requirement- and I think there is a list of acceptable rounds. But don't quote me on that- I have never hunted with a handgun...

I really haven't hunted deer at all. I was just going to start if they added this rifle season... LOL I almost got one in 'blazer' season though! But he ran off! I MUST not have used a big enough blazer on him!

I called the sheriff's office about just shooting them and leaving them lay.... They don't sem to be opposed to killing them but you can't salvage the meat. This seems wasteful and unnatural to me

I have never seen a 45/70 pistol. Hmmmmm.... probably kills on both ends! I would think it would be like lightening on them though!

Isn't this a great thread! Dale

Dale, I have a TC contender with 45-70 barrel. It can be brutal with warm loads. I also have a BFR revolver, 5shot from magnum research in 45-70. It is a well made accurate and STRONG gun. I have loaded 405gn cast up to 1750fps. It is not fun to shoot at the level anymore though. 350's or 405's in the 13-1400fps range are not bad though. Factory ammo has comparitivly no recoil in this gun.

I have a Century .45-70 revolver. Big single action. Much gentler on the hands than my Super Blackhawk, mainly because it weighs nearly twice as much.

Hi all, Lee charged my credit card for the molds, so I don't know if that means they are getting close or not???

I have 4 people that got on the list but haven't responded to emails or sent a payment, so I have 4 left. First come, First served. Any left overs will go up on ebay or something.

Hi all, I called LEE today and they said that the custom dept has been swamped but is getting caught up so the molds haven't been started yet, but they said it shouldn't be much longer.

Ya know . . . IF the custom shop is that busy, maybe there is a hint of "standard molds" for Lee to produce.

If this bullet shoots like I hope it will, you know Lee could sell a bunch of them as a standard offering!

Definately a lot of orders going in to Lee for these custom mold runs. Midsouth has several custom designs listed as well as the members of the SASS wire seem to be coming up with a lot of custom design orders for CAS boolits.

I agree that they should consider adding some of these designs to their standard offerings. Might not happen though if they're worried about paying royalties to the designer.

Just my 2 cents.

Part of the submission form says that they can reproduce the design at anytime they want to. So I don't think that royalties would be a concern, and if so, they could always just change a couple of minor things to make it a new design like make it .001" longer?

Is there a site where the SASS guys hangout? Id like to see what they are makeing.

Just do a search for "SASS Wire" and you'll get the link. Lots of topics going on. To say the least it's a very busy site.

Bump. Any status update? I'm running out of the 212gr Lymans that DJ sent for me to play with and me running out of stuff to play with is always a bad thing IMO.
