disaster struck last night.
The removable breach block was getting alittle loose from shooting, so I brazed it to the frame. I then had to adjust the barrel breach to close. After that, I had to ream the chamber just slightly to get a round to chamber and close. I must have got a chip stuck between the reamer and chamber because I have a couple of nice round grooves in the chamber now!! Bummer. I have a couple of Garand barrels on the way, I'll have to make another one.
I made a neck sizer die from a 300 Savage die I found in the parts bin of the Gun Barn. I had a loose/ bent decapper pin that happened to fit the threads, so I cut it down, straightened, drilled and soldered the decaping pin in place. The die works great. Now I just need to make a new barrel, or rechamber to 30 Herret? The barrels pretty thin though??
