I told Willy three days ago the servers were giving me problems and he said his servers were great, it was something else causing the problem. My guess is he installed a new upgrade that killed the machine. If it ain't broke,......

Hackers get hold of critical Internet flaw
I have been dealing with this personally for 2 days now,, to say I am frustrated beyond belief is to put it mildly.

I have a forum of my own, and I cannot access it and neither can some of my members, I have tried a dozen guaranteed fixes by my ISP and by the hosting company powweb and no fix is holding and today I am again, blocked from viewing my own forum.

Apparently this hack is going from ISP to ISP but it seems to be quite random and my ISP, Earthlink denies it even exists.

Hackers get hold of critical Internet flaw
Jul 24 07:09 PM US/Eastern

Internet security researchers on Thursday warned that hackers have caught on to a "critical" flaw that lets them control traffic on the Internet.

An elite squad of computer industry engineers that labored in secret to solve the problem released a software "patch" two weeks ago and sought to keep details of the vulnerability hidden at least a month to give people time to protect computers from attacks.

"We are in a lot of trouble," said IOActive security specialist Dan Kaminsky, who stumbled upon the Domain Name System (DNS) vulnerability about six months ago and reached out to industry giants to collaborate on a solution.

"This attack is very good. This attack is being weaponized out in the field. Everyone needs to patch, please. This is a big deal."

DNS is used by every computer that links to the Internet and works similar to a telephone system routing calls to proper numbers, in this case the online numerical addresses of websites.

The vulnerability allows "cache poisoning" attacks that tinker with data stored in computer memory caches that relay Internet traffic to destinations.

It seems although some people can access it with no problem, the rest of us,, including me of course and many many others cannot.

if I could wave a magic wand and fix it I would. I am well past the pissed off mode now.

I can access it Ken. You need to talk to Earthlink to remove the block....which in itself is a very hard thing to do.

Joe, do you mean to say that each of us must contact his own ISP and have them remove the block? If so, just what would I need tell them to remove?

Art,

I done a little researching on the internet about what Ken said. Seems Earthlink is a real shit company and seems to be the one that most likely blocks your IP, like Ken is having trouble with. They are extremely hard to contact and don't answer their emails, etc.. Someone even suggested going to Atlanta to their offices and confronting them face to face. They have something to do with this whole mess. I'm by no means an expert at this stuff, but Ken might start with them.

Still can't get in. I installed the DNS Free addresses as recommended at Castpics but it made no difference. Guess I'll be able to live without it, and I'm sure they can get by without me...

Art,

I see that 45nut got back in finally. You might email him and ask what he did, or maybe he'll answer here.

205.234.99.171 is the IP address of CB,, that "should" work.

And yes,, the staff of techs at earthlink sucks. I dread contacting them bangladeshi fools, they have never once solved a issue for me and did not this time either after a 3 hour ph call.

I even tried to bet the guy before I started he wasnt going to be able to fix it,, he declined to bet,,and would have lost.

Of course it was a $50.00 bet,, the equiv of 4 years wages for him I suppose.
