I don't cast my own bullets, but was wondering what diameter lead bullets to buy for this caliber. I always use bullets .001 larger and sometimes .002 larger than bore diameter for 3 other calibers but have found only .410 slugs for sale and am not sure if these will perform well. Any advise? Thanks, Dennis

I would say .411,this is what I size my cast bullets for my 41 Mag ,41 GNR and DW 7414 SuperMag.

You want a boolit diameter large enough to be forcefully pushed through the cylinders. If the lead is terribly hard, just lower a fast pistol powder load a little to compensate. Using 2400 through 4227, you don't need to lower the load.

I have been casting for about 20 years and load for the nine .41s I have. The "textbook" diameter is .411", but there is more to the story than that. If the bullet is soft enough to obturate right and fill the bore when the gas hits the base, the bullet will lead only minimally. And NO bullet fails to lead completely, regardless of what you might have read. All that to say this: I cast mine and size them to .410", and have never had a problem w/excess leading, even shooting 21 grains of IMR 4227.
