I am considering starting to cast bullets for .45 LC's and a .454 FA. I know there are several other moulds available, but does anyone have any experience with either bullets. I'd really like to buy some if anyone has a few extra lying around. Can the 454190 be sized down to a .452 diameter??? I know there is much I have to learn befre casting, I am not a kid, and have good intentions, but there are no casters that I know of here in SW NM to watch and get hands on experience.

Yep the 454190 can be sized down to .452 with no problem. This bullet closely mimics the original factor bullet and is very accurate. There are better bullets out there for hunting big critters (deer and such)but for just any other purpose it is a fine bullet. Wherebouts in SW New Mexico are you? I lived in Deming for a few years and truly like that part of the world.

Jesse...personally I'd concider RCBS's 255 gr. Keith style semi-wadcutter for a 45 Long Colt. I have this mould and the boolit shoots fantastic in every 45 Long Colt I have including revolvers and rifles. For example my Smith & Wesson Model 25 will put them in little over an inch at 50 yds. The rifles (Model 94 Winchester Trapper and Marlin Cowboy) will literally cut holes at that same distance. Although you can size the 454 boolits down to .452 the less you size any boolit the better. I have been shooting the 45 Long Colt since the 1970's. Hope this helps. Joe

See if a J*****D bullet drops through your cylinders or let your Revolver size them before you size them. My ruger likes a .454 size die. Gianni.
