I upped the order to 45 molds in my last email to pat while confirming dimensions. He said they should be cut in about 2-3 weeks and to please not add anymore as it creates havaoc with the retail production. I guess I should have seen how many we would need then put the order in. Oh well, we'll know for next time. There is still 2-3 molds unspoken for with the 45. First come first served. I'll just put them up on ebay if noone here speaks for them. I'll update the paid list soon.

Glenn,
My check went out in the mail yeseterday. Looking forward to trying out the mold. I wonder if that bullet would work in my Competitor .358 Win. pistol? I'll probably try it. I have never tried cast bullets in bottleneck cases, but I'm wondering how to seat lead bullets without shaving lead.

Thanks,
Neal

Neal, you just need to bell the case. Your basic choices are a Lyman M die which both expands the neck slightly and flares the mouth, the Lee Universal Expanding Die, which bells only, and tapping any tapered medal object into the case mouth to flare it.

Thanks for the tip. I am guessing I can take the expander plug from a .357 die set, screw it into a .44 or .45 cal expander die so the .358 Win. case will fit up in it, and presto, a belled neck.

You might be able to make the expander plug switch work. I have a Lyman kit with assorted plugs for a powder measure adapter. I need to make up a shorter hollow stem to make it work in rifle calibers, but where it works, it cuts one step out of the process.

Hi All! Boy am I excited ( well, what passes for excited at my age) about the new mold. We may have a new deer season here just for centerfire rifles with this type of cartridge. AND I WANT TO BE READY!

I could go buy a box of factory shells for my 'eargesplitzenloudengebang'n' (didn't know I could speak German, did ya?) wundergun. Naaaawwww! this will require a homemade approach. Cast my own, roll my own, & drop a concrete block on one of the devilish things from a tree.

Oh ya, back to the point. I wonder how this bullet might do as a deer hunting bullet ( boolit to us gentlemen's from the sout') Anybody plunked one of them deer with something like this out of a carbine? Thanks, Dale

I hope it works.

My plan is to launch it out of the Mag, Max and a 357 Herrett.

I plan on shootin a bunch out of my Rossi M92 levergun as well as the mag, max and herret. it may even find it's way into the Whelen. I think it will have a big enough nose to do a respectable job.

I put the order in for 45 molds of which 43 are spoken for. Pat says no more additions, so who ever gets the last two gets them. If not they will go up on ebay.

I'm ready, I have about 500lbs of fresh cleaned and fluxed ingots just waiting to go. I'm getting 2 molds myself so I can really crank them out. Useing that bottom pour smelter was so much fun, I alomst want to make a run on the neighboring tire stores.

I will be using mine in the 357 Max and the 35 Reminton. I think you would be able to do alright on deer with a medium soft bullet. Doesn't Illinois have a centerfire season now? When I lived in Illinois I went to Wisconsin to hunt deer, that was 30 years ago.
