I don't know what is the matter with your Mauser rifles on Castboolits (except for the one fellows Persian) my Yugo 48B chambers those just fine. Mine was unissued and has a modern tight bore and chamber. I have not problems with any of the heavy weights in it. Ricochet mine also feed them slick as owl poo. Ricochet I've tried the pencil sharper on a 150 gr Loverin for a 7mm in my very short throated 7mm-08 and it's works, but the accuracy is decreased. So been there done that pal.
I also have no problem with this bullet in K98, M48 or 24-47, feeds slick and shoots accurate, ten shot groups of around 2 inches at 100 yds. When sized down to .313 inch and loaded for the 91-30 MN it also is accurate and feeds as slick as snot on a door knob, nary a problem with this mold, good bullet design. I also used one to drop an 1100 pound buffalo, she never took a step.

I know of three banned counting me and three that voluntarily quit. Another kind of quit and was begged to come back. I don't want to get into it, lets just say I didn't get along with Tpr Bret and Deputy Al.
What is the OAL of your loaded round when you use the Lee Max bullet?..My OAL. is 3.200"...I do have problems with my Max feeding in my Brno 21H 8x57...The nose hangs up around 4 o'clock on the breech face or the end of the barrel..If I work the bolt very fast there is just a slight catch and marring of the nose...I have been using the LEE case champher tool to round the nose a bit and that does help...still not 100% feed though...The feed ramp and its shoulders don't seem to be the problem... Ha!...now that I think of it I bet it is the "extractor" as it seems to hold the round loosely allowing the round to tip down and to the right as I move it towards battery... So I have two questions for you Max users that don't have feeding problems... 1..What is your OAL 2..Once your round is free off the feed rails does your extractor hold the round square and tight with the bolt face?..
I really like this bullet as it is the most accurate one that I have used in this rifle and as swheeler has shown it is one hell of a hunting bullet... Thanks for your thoughts....
LW: 2.955 on the Oberndorf and 2.910 on both flavor of Yugos which engraves the front driving band a little, and puts the gas check well below the shoulder of the case. IIRC Starmetal has an as new yugo 48 that requires even deeper seating. I have several rifles in different calibers that use cast bullets with the GC seated below the shoulder and has never caused a problem, I use Hornady crimp on style checks for all of these loadings. I have fired the shorter 2.910oal ammo in the k98 and accuracy was still acceptable with the .040 jump so next time I load they all will be seated to the shorter length making it useable in all rifles. Yes once the cartridge clears the feed rails it is captured against the bolt face by the extractor.
swheeler I worked the bolt slowly tonight and the problemn is that because the OAL is so long the bullet hits the breech face before the case clears the feed rails...I'll shorten the OAL and see if feeds better and see if it shoots as well as it did with the longer OAL...Thanks for your reply..

Scot,
My Yugo DOES NOT require deep seating. It has one of the longest throats I've see on an 8x57.
