| I have a Lyman mould that casts a 180 grain .44 WC. This one has a nose of sorts and is not intended to be flush seated. I used 5.5 to 6.5 grains of Unique in a couple of long ago Charter Bulldog .44 Specials. The Lee Manual lists some loads for 190 grain .44 Special WCs.
Lately I have been playing with it in .44 Mag cases in a Marlin carbine. Haven't found a good load for that one, yet. |

| PB Head.....I've got an old Lyman 429348 wadcutter mould out there that I've played with.
Used 8.5 grains of Unique in a 44 Special case in my 44 Mag SBH and it did great at 50 yards. Produced 1035 FPS. Accuracy fell off at 100 yard plinking due to the design.
Should make a great plinking and small game load./beagle |

| pb head i also had the lee wc it was hard to get the front driving band to fill out , i also gave it to someone else, and bought a saeco 4 cavity 44 200gr wc , very accurate at 25 yards, lacking at 50 , i also use it for bowling pins , with excellent results .for a light target load try 4.5 be or a pin load 17.5 of 820 both put up in 44 mag cases with mag primer with 820. if you want you i can lend you my mold. bobthenailer |

| Bobthenailer, I'll take you up on the brass and let me know if you want to borrow the Lee 240RN 6 holer. I have a extra set of handles you can use with it. I tried that 820 load tonite at the pin shoot. Got another 24, that 25 aludes me more often then not. As far as I know I'll be up the club Sunday, I can bring the mould with me if you want it. | Beagle, tried a variant of your 8.5grn Unique WC load, along with four others, in my ole stainless SBH at the range earlier today. Your's was the star performer, modified to include 44 Mag cases and the 208grn. Lee WC out of a ww alloy. We are talkin clover leafs at 25yds here!!!
Never would have had the imagination to try a WC at more than 800fps on my own, being weened on 38 hollow-base wadcutters. ---galena---- |

| galena kid...Glad it's working for you. It's worked for me in the 44 Special and I should shoot more of them but don't. Haven't shot any in the 44 Mags as I have too many good Keith moulds for that and do a lot of 100 yards pinking and wads at those velocities fall off too much.
Every once in a while, I'll go on a 44 Special kick and shoot some wads and some of the old original RN 246 grainers as I have both moulds. I'd really like to have a 44 Special cylinder for the SBH and eliminate that long jump but I'm too cheap to special order one from one of these custom 'smiths./beagle |
