[I thought the longish thread might be loading slow for some with dial up connects... so another we go...]

The longish thread about joining the CBA hasn't produced answers to a couple simple questions I had. I'm starting to wonder what's the deal??

That Q is:

--the dues rate increase was said to be needed to keep that club going [am I mistaken??]. So why now make a 180 degree turn and put the rates back to previous levels? It was posted IF I join CBA a reason is printed in the 'Fouling Shot'-- which I'd receive AFTER sending the $$. That sorta sounds like our government.....

So... who controls how this $$ is spent? Consider 1000 members @ $17,000 a [likely membership is much more than 1000] head-- and what their getting is a bimonthly newsletter in essense. Where's the $$ going and who's pulling the trigger on how it's spent??

Methinks these questions aren't too much to ask??? Just some straight answers... Please

Everyone and his uncle can now freely generate power, and any excess generated MUST be bought back by the big power company at the same dollars as is sold from the big power company to that same individual. However, as I see it now, the CBA, the big power company, is not willing to PURCHASE from the individual. And, that's against the law. ... felix

Felix--

That would make us the guys with the wind farms, then? :-)

Since becoming involved with Internet cast boolit boards about 5 years ago, I noted that a significant portion of the posters had considerable antipathy for the CBA. Many of these people held views and presented information that I respect highly, so my thoughts were that SOMETHING was amiss about CBA.

If the basis of the problem is elitist nonsense, I need to look no further than the club that Buckshot and I belong to--the claybusters regard the rifle and handgun shooters as a necessary evil, low things that contribute funds reliably but are less highly evolved than the Perazzi swingers in the Hummers nand BMWs. This condition has persisted for quite some time--I fondly recall my Dad going out in August for a dove season warm-up with his M-12 when I was in my teens--and kicking the crap out of the dudes with the five-figure shotguns. These characters stuffed their status symbols back into the trunks of their Benzos in short order, when after running 200 straight at 16 yards he offered them a chance at handicap ranges. Though I can't hold a candle to Dad's ability with a scattergun, I still take great delight in whupping some of them with my 870 or Ithaca 37. A slide action shotgun on their trap fields is like spray paint in the Sistine Chapel to that bunch.

If the problem is an intransigent moderator, that issue is already resolved--we're here.

The whole thing seems a waste, though--there's gotta be some fine, knowledgeable folks at CBA.

Seems to me, we otta offer CB-A and CB-L members the opportunity to renounce their aristocratic ways and join us here. If, that is, they can afford the dues we pay.

"... like a can of spray paint at the Sistine Chapel." LMAO!!! I made a follow up post on the long thread, but in essence I agree with Al. These guys probably have some good stuff to offer. Be shame to waste that chance based on their ego's- or ours.

I agree, definitely. But what's the big deal asking for some particulars when reviewing the merit's of a membership? It's viewed as some 'attack' which is pure bullsh**.

IMO opinion what it boils to is printing up a bunch of extra copies of the Fouling Shot and adding a stamp is a cost effective way to boost revenues. A good chunk of money left CBA with those dues hiked to $25 a yr. Now their offering a 40% reduction in said dues if it's paid in a two yr package....

So what gives with the $$? What's the straight skinny-- if ya will?? I don't think that's too much to ask.......

Aladin et al--

A straight answer to a direct question IS the most courteous response, no doubt about it. "Question deflection" or "answering a more comfortable question than the one asked" are the typical actions of my clientele and the attorneys that represent them. A real red flag to me.

I bet you won't see something like this printed in the CBA magazine! One of the most informative collection of ideas yet for such a simple store bought product.

And all this time you've just been putting Bounce
in the dryer!

It will chase ants away when you lay
a sheet near them.

It also repels mice... spread them around
foundation areas, or in trailers or cars that are
sitting and it keeps mice from entering your
vehicle.

It takes the odor out of books and photo albums
that don't get opened too often.

Repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a
belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.

Eliminates static electricity from your television
(or computer) screen. Since Bounce is designed to
help eliminate static cling, wipe your television
screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust
from resettling.

Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a
sheet of Bounce.

Freshen the air in your home. Place a sheet of
Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.

Put a Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.

Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded
needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning
to sew.

Prevent musty suitcases. Place a sheet of Bounce
inside empty luggage before storing.

Freshen the air in your car. Place a sheet of
Bounce under the seat.

Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a
sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit
overnight, and sponge clean. The anti- static
agent apparently weakens the bond between the
food.

Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of
Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.

Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of
Bounce will magnetically attract all the loose
hairs.

Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds.
Wipe them with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust
from resettling.

Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A
used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a
tacky cloth.

Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place a sheet of
Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of
Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to
keep bees away.

Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent
before folding and storing them. Keeps them
smelling fresh.

P.S.

I put a Bounce rag around each of my powder hoppers, and then wrap that with tin/alum foil. Everytime I lift the rag/foil to see the the powder level, the rag automatically rubs the powder stack. What a deal! ... felix

Felix - Very good example of what we have been saying. We may go far afield, but eventually tumble back into cast bullets or reloading.

The whole bunch kind of reminds me of Festus on Gunsmoke. He would start a long rambling story, but eventually get to the point!

You forgot to mention that Bounce rags drive away normally peaceful shooter types like me.

Wow! what a stink!

Yeah, Forrest, I'm sure the brand Bounce has a competitor or two. Might want to try them instead. In fact, what does that window fluid you use on your planes smell like? You know, the de-icer stuff. Is it an anti-static liquid too? Might play with that for sheets-and-grins and report back. Just an idea. ... felix

Fe: In fact, what does that window fluid you use on your planes smell like? You know, the de-icer stuff..

Fo: We call that stuff alcohol! In a pinch a fellow may drain the de-icing tank for liquid refreshment! The "Whiskey Windshield" no less. A well-known term in avaition!

Fe: Is it an anti-static liquid too?

Fo: Nope, but it will burn.

Really though, I strongly dislike the dryer sheet's oder and won't allow my wife to use them on my clothes. Wow! just to think of myself smelling like that as I climbed into an airplane! YUK! It is bad enough to be around folks that do.

Good morning,
Forrest

I think you should put a sheet in your foil hat as well. :-)

Flame's got enough ions in it to be quite conductive, and will disperse a static charge.

Set alcohol on fire around your powder hoppers and you can quit worrying about static electricity.

Aladin, I'm not an accountant but have worked in publicly traded companies long enough to well understand disclosure. If CBA has, in IRS terms, declared themselves a not-for-profit organization (or something similar to reduce a tax burden), then I believe (really needs qualification [Confused] ) that there are public disclosure regulations that govern not-for-profit organizations too. If they claim a status that reduces their tax liability (as compared to a normal class "C" corporate status), it is logical that their financial information would need to be a matter of public record. I haven't a clue what kind of statements (if any) are required or where to find them....but you've now got me curious. I like financial stuff just about as much as cast bullets! If I find that not-for-profit organizations must provide P&L-type statements for public scrutiny, I'll send you a PM 'cuz this is waaaay off topic......

Regards.......

I do believe a 501c(3) organization is required to file a pulic return to the state every year, along with membership information, and financial reports.
Also, they must re-register the DBA name every few years or it becomes public domain, and can be snatched up by someone who is keeping an eye on it. How would you like to find Handguns, Inc., in default of thier name? A person could have fun with something like that.
Seriously though, if you should count coup on some large non-profit organization, they would pay big bucks to get the name back, as your ownership ties up all trade marks, banking, all kinds of fun stuff.

Ric,

Right on. I did do a bit of research last night for another project (I have 501(c)3 customers). The IRS requires that a balance sheet be made available to anyone who asks for it....but.....the not-for-profit can charge a "reasonable" fee and make "reasonable" restrictions on when the balance sheet may be accessed.

I e mailed said Pres of said 'club and it appears no response is forthcoming..

Do they have something to hide? I didn't think so going in but now I wonder...

What the hell is the problem asking some Q's about a club's finances IF your gonna consider memebership?

Hell some good anwers and who knows how many members they mighta picked up here..

I think my analogy of trolling the boards with extra copies of the 'fouling shot' to peddle mighta been accurate.

I think my worst case scenario for how CBA operates in something closer to the truth than I would have believed going into this thread.

They have unscented bounce and it also works good to control static on my electronic scale. It don't have that terrible smell.
