No, mercury will not wipe out mankind but it will wipe out an individual. I hope that you are safe and qualified to handle it, but I for one do not want my neighbors playing with the stuff.

So your one of those guys that want your "neighbors" controlled, as far as to what they can have and own. Do you think they are "qualified" to own guns, or should that be scrutinized as well?? Bill T.

The Outer's Foul Out kit works really well. Works by (IIRC) reverse electrolysis and gets the lead out. Pretty easy to use and not real expensive...

I second the H2O2 and vinegar recipe. It works beautifully on my .458's bore. NRA Life Member testa virtus magna minimum

Bill: Like most reasoning, any taken to its logical extreme is extreme. Before becoming enmeshed in the beauty of anarchism, or libertarianism, think about things you don't want people -- children -- to futz with. Is this really controlling behavior? I could list many examples you would agree with, perhaps grudgingly. But such a list is pointless. You could provide a comparable list, too. If there is an acceptable method of removing lead that does not involve using a heavy metal, why insist upon using the heavy metal? To illustrate a principle? You're smarter than that. And if you believe the effect of heavy metal poisoning, when its use is unknown to those being poisoned, is minor, think of The Mad Hatter of Dodgson's books. Mad Hatters were victims of mercury poisoning used to shape fur felt hats. It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don't say it. Sam Levinson

Simply because it works better than any other method. Mercury is safe when handled properly. What is the problem? Bill T.
