hi according to the true shot their cast bullets are made of silver alloy. Why using silver alloy is it for hunting warewolves? or another reason to use such an expensive metal for bullet casting. I can't find any ducuments about use of silver in cast lead bullets regard yes Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

It's been 17 years since I had access to the reference books on the subject, but seem to recall that small additions of silver improve hardness of heat treated WW slightly. It may have some influence on grain structure or fill, too, I dunno since I've never tried it.

A small amount of silver is commonly added (1-2%) to solder used for electronics to increase conductivity. Looking a electronic/electrical solder manufacturer's specs on their product might give you some information to it's hardness and strength. Laser-Cast bullets have trace amounts of silver, because lead is generally found in alloy/ore form with silver. L-C gets their alloy from this silver mine where it is not economically feasible to remove that last half a percent or so. They are only about a hundred miles west of me, and my wife's baby sister lives in Baker City; so it's cost effective for me to go by there when we visit. Great bullets for HV loadings, and fantastic people to deal with. I have shot their 30 caliber rifle bullet the 190gr GC ones, at over 2400fps from a 300WM in under an inch at 100yds for five shot groups. They stand behind their product. I told Brian (owner) that it would be much safer than standing in front of it, and he just looked at me for about five minutes...and laughed. Rich DRSS

Silver alloy is the ONLY thing for hunting werewolves. For vampires one needs wooden bullets for zombies you need big bullets and LOTS of them. I hope this is of help. Bob

When Laser cast first started I tried some of their 45 acp bullets. They leaded my barrel pretty good, where as my own cast didn't lead them at all even at high velocities. I tried them in quite a few guns, same thing. I got in touch with them on the phone and explained my problems and loads and they were very nice about it, said they had a problem, and sent me a whole new batch of bullets, which shot better. Accuracy wise they didn't shoot bad. The worse commercial cast bullets I ever shot were from National Bullet and to boot, they were copper coated. They had the lube on them just as though they were plain cast. Problem with them was the accuracy wasn't there. Again these were 45 acp and also 45 Colt style bullets. Those too were fired out of quite a variety of firearms....and no they didn't lead my barrels. Also for shooting vampires it's good to rub garlic on your bullets. Zombies must be shot in the head. Bob K, I have better luck using cast silver bullets with 1 gm garlic powder added to each stick of lube in my sizer. That way, you can use the same bullets on both werewolves and vampires. wk

Idaho SS, you cleared up something for me... I always figured (assumed) the alloying with silver was done as a marketing ploy, and nothing else. I don't study metal futures, but figured somehow they had come upon a way to make money even using silver in the alloy. And to be frank, I didn't figure it did a thing in the world to improve castability, hardness, as-cast size, or anything else. At least now I know why the silver is in there...

Doubless, I think the biggest advantage is the hardness. That trace amount of other elements adds about 7-8 points Bhn. Rich DRSS Alchemist by avocation...my specialty is turning gold into copper via Wall Street

I do have a partial box of Laser Cast .45 Colt 250gr. Initially they leaded my 4 5/8" Blackhawk something fierce, the throats measured 0.448-0.449, I opened them up to 0.453 and the problem was solved, regardless of how fast I pushed them. They have good accuracy, but since I pour my own I save them for I'm not sure what, most likely a Lever Gun in .45 Colt. I LIKE the garlic power in the lube! Silver alloy, special lube, .50AE Prepared for anything. Starmetal, you're right on the head shot. But big bullets will take off limbs and make 'em go in circles Bob

Bob, I don't know how true it is, but I was told that back in the bad Mafia days, that the Mafia heavies rubbed garlic on their bullet noses. Remember back then most bullets were all lead or with alot of lead exposed. Thing is something about garlic promotes lead poisoning. On the other other hand if you have some lead in your blood stream, garlic is suppose to help rid it. The part that was funny when it was told to me is that if folks smelled garlic among a bunch of men in suits, they would say the Mafia was around. Like I said, don't know the truth to any of it.
