I shoot the 9.3x57. Mountain molds (www.mountainmolds.com) makes nice moulds - on the main page is a 270 grain mould that was designed for the 9.3x62. His moulds are flat nosed, can be had plain based or to fit for the .375 gas check which work very well. NEI also makes a couple moulds that work well. Quality has been spotty since Walt passed away, but I hear that it has gotten much better lately. NEI's moulds are more of a round nose, the lighter weights can be plain based, the heavier ones are cut for the .358 gas check. Lyman did make a plain base mould 250 grain (366408) that you might be able to run into, but they can be hard to find. It is a tapered designed. If you do run into one it will probaly be about the same price as a mould from Mountain Molds. I have examples of all three, and of them all the Mountain Molds shoots the best with heavier loads and Lyman's 366408 does OK with light loads. Hope this helps.

Never managed to find a 9,3 mold in Africa so run rcbs 300grn .375 gass checked bullets through a home turned swaging die on a rock Chucker press or a little hyraulic press I have. Cast bullets out of Pure Lino brings weight down to 287grn. Shoot fine at moderate velocities out to 50m for practice ammo or teaching kids to shoot.

I have a CZ-550 in 9.3 x 62, and use the Mountain Molds bullet referred to above. The rifle is SUPERBLY accurate with this bullet, with Lyman #358430 paper-patched, and the three jacketed designs I've run through it so far. The caliber is probably a bit much for game under 100#/40 kg, but with downloaded cast bullets it can be made to imitate a whole lot of 19th Century "classic" cartridges. The 270 grain cast MM design at 1700 FPS does a fine impression of the 38-55 caliber. My understanding is that a contributor here--"Eirik"--was the originator of the MM design. It is a winner! Many thanks, sir.

DeputyAlAgain---Was wondering how you got that name? Maybe after you retire from being a Deputy, you plan on re-entering the field again as a Deputy?

No, C-man--this name has to do with the gymnastics required to get re-established on this board. I doubt I'll be wanting to do much more law enforcement work--the view never changes when you do social proctology, and I'd like a new and better set of scenery elements.

DepAl---I really didnt think where you are counting the days you had plans of pursuing it further. Figured it was to do with getting signed in here.

Carpetman-- I'm done--papers go in on Wednesday. Right now, I'm just burning up benefit time the County won't pay me for upon retirement. Which allows me a lot more time to play around with the 9.3 and a few other cast bullet critters that need more work. The 25-20 and 32-20 rifles are first on the list for R&D.

Dep Al--I know you have planned on moving out of state when you retire. Any firm plans there? Know yet where you might land? Keep in touch.
