I see the ingrediants to the Big Melt of Felix bullet lube includes Jojoba oil. If we add Jojoba oil to our regular Felix Lube recipe, should we heat both the caster oil and the jojoba oil with the mineral oil for 30 minutes; prior to adding the rest of the ingredients? I have read that jojoba oil is one of the secret ingredients of Apache Blue lube. Thanks for any information regarding jojoba oil, how to include it in the recipe, and what its effect is on the lube. Jojoba oil is being added to the lube to keep the whole mess soft in colder temperatures. I would not call it a secret ingredient per se, but you can bet your bottom dollar it is the most expensive additive. It is not warrented if you only shoot in weather above 70 degrees, especially with large bores. Because of its expense, it is mixed in after all other ingredients have been mixed in. Just enough to keep the lube at the right consistency by feel. Jojoba has an extremely low freezing point for any natural oil or any type, and it's molecules are extremely small. ... felix

Felix, thanks for the info. As I do a lot of shooting in the fall and winter at temperatures in the 30's and 40's, it sounds like it would be helpfull in my mix. For summer time lube, I will leave it out. Understanding how the ingredients relate to each other is incredibly important in being able to custom mix the lube to specific needs. I REALLY appreciate your passing this knowledge to us via this forum. :> Turbo

Felix, keep an eye on the wx next week. The thermometer came in yesterday. I will fill propane bottles Friday or so. New burners (2) are on hand and ready to go. All we need now is pick a day and pull the pin! sundog
