Hallo everybody.
I would like to start casting for the 375h&h and the 30-06.I have been lookiing through this forum trying to see which bullet moulds to use but there is to much information to go through.
I have some credit with Lee and I use their handgun moulds but they dont have a gascheck mould for the .375 .They have the 30-06 covered though.
Any suggestions for the 375h&h.[which weight range would you guys recommend]It will be for plinking and shooting at 100m.My gun is zeroed for 270grn bullets and I would like to have as little bullet drop as possible at this range.
Same goes for the 30-06 ,light 130grn bullets or heavy 190grn bullets if you shoot 180grn bullets.
I will be using wheelweights, would this be ok if I water quench them.
Another thing that I noticed is that Lee does not have a 375 sizer. Is there any sizers out there that works on the same principle and which will work on a Lee press.
All your insights will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Johan

Johan, I've tried two molds for the 375, RCBS 37-250 and Lyman 375496. They are both flat point gaschecked bullet between 250 and 270 grain depending on alloy, the Lyman a little heavier than the RCBS. Otherwise they are very similar. Because of that I sold the Lyman mold. I've found RCBS molds a little more to my liking than Lyman, but Lyman molds work fine if you like the bullet design. Either bullet can be driven to 2000-2100fps making them a fine 200 yard hunting bullet.

Asking about 30 caliber bullet molds is a loaded question. There are probably more in that size than any other. Eveyone has a favorite and thinks the other guy's favorite isn't fit to paperweight.

I have the RCBS 37-250 mold.

I'm quite happy with it -- no accuracy or casting problems.

Have two molds from NEI - one a 280grains RN and the other a 305grains RFN. Both are good - but the 280 is a tackdriver in my rifle (and in the rifles of a couple of friends for whom I cast). Sized .376 I load it to 2000-2100f/s and it shoots as well as any factory ammo. I have pushed the 280 up to 2250 when trying different lubes but then I started having larger groups.

Lyman's 375449 GC is a good bullet for the .375 H&H and .38/55. In the .30/'06, you'd have a hard time beating the Lyman 31141. This is also a good .30/30, 30/40 Krag, and .308 Winchester bullet.
