Sorry I missed the order. If there is a second round, I would like to be a part of it. pontoon@midmaine.com Anyone try them in a Marlin 1895SS (mine:Ballard rifling, 22" bbl)? Do they feed ok? I work in the paper industry (sell chemicals to the papermaking process). I get a kick out of reading Paul Mathews book on the paper jacket. "Onion skin" and various light weight paper to wrap the bullet can be very abrasive. If is is a "bond grade" type of paper, it typically has 12-20 % inorganic filler to provide opacity to the lighter and lighter weight sheet. This is normally precipitated calcium carbonate (CaCO3, and referred to as "PCC"). The paper then goes through a size press to add starch to the surface of the sheet, from 40-120 lbs/ton dosage. This starch is what gives the paper its "rattle." It is stiff, and can be abrasive too. I would be interested in trying good lens paper, not lens tissue paper. It is strong, and doesn't have the filler content (may be ~ <3% filler so as to not scratch the lens or coating). Should be much less abrasive to the bore. Just a thought for you guys. The chemicals I sell are designed to keep the filler in the sheet, so this is from the "inside." Would love to get a mold to try it with my Marlin 45-70. Please let me know if a mold comes available, or if a second ordering comes around. | ||
