I've only ever used cast bullets in a revolver and was thinking of trying some in my 6.5x55 Howa. Some Questions Has anyone here used 6.5x55 shooting cast bullets? What is the maxium velocity you can push hard cast gas check bullets to? What bullet weight do you think woud be best? Would they be suitable to use on goats? Hutzpah

I cast a couple different weights for my Swede. The Lyman #2660645 150gr semi-spitzer has a small meplat. The RCBS #55005 140gr semi-spitzer has a slightly larger one and is more accurate. Both will group under 1.5" at 100yds with the issue iron sights at 2250+fps. If you got to www.castboolits.com and click on the "Group Buy" icon they are getting a group buy together for a Lee 6-cavity mould. About $60USD plus getting it to Australia. It is a 129gr bullet with a nice flat nose. All three are gas-checked. Rich DRSS

Idaho, Your link leads to a spoof site when I click on it. This might be me and my machine, then again it might not. Take a click and see where you go to. Oldfeller

that's it, you just click on the castboolits header and it gets you there. I think about half of my bookmark sites were clicking in the site to bookmark it. Sorry... Rich DRSS

Thanks Idaho sharpshooter for the link. It would be great to be able to break 2000fps. Trying to see if I can find a 6.5 hollow point mold at around 120gr. Hutzpah

He's done nothing others can't do. Check this target out. 140 gr Saeco shot from a1 in 8 twist barrel AR15 in 6.5 Grendel at 2300 fps. Too bad I had the one flyer.
