I tried to delete this but was not able too. Turns out Laredo bullets are just fine.

I've never used any Laredo bullets but I would consider "sharp" bases a definite plus and an indication of a quality cast bullet. If you are having trouble seating them maybe your expander plug is too small or the bullets, as cast by Laredo, are a little too large. For most 44 mags they should mic about .430". The expander plugs in most die sets are designed for jacketed bullets and do not open up the case mouth enough for the correct size cast bullets. If you DO manage to force them in they get sized down by the case mouth and don't shoot well. Until I made larger expander plugs for all my cast bullet die sets I had the same problems you are having.
