Starmetal--If the side of your case has not been cut away,do you still need the tufting? Most of the sides of my cases are still intact.

A picture is indeed worth a thousand words!

Joe, your close-up in the latest photos clearly shows how nicely a wee bit of dacron will hold the powder in position. Comparing the size of the powder granules to the miniscule amount of room between the strands of dacron shows why the powder can't migrate. Even the finer-grained powders are nicely secured.

I suspect that the dacron in my own loads is a BIT more dense than your photo shows, but not much. As I mentioned, pulling a tuft back out of the case shows how it has taken-on the shape and size of the case interior due to the way the strands cling to each other. This makes it easy to see just how tightly or loosely the stuff is installed when in the powder chamber.

Darn... I HAVE to learn how to post pictures here. We have a nice new digital camera which I know nothing about, and also I know LESS than that about how to get a photo OUT of the camera and ONTO a website like this one.

In search of a 200 yard (reduced course) cast boolit load for high power I've been playing around with several loads that will increase velocity enough with the 308-165-SIL boolit so that I do not need to change out my sites. Today at the range I was merrily banging away fire forming some case when it dawned on me to do the 'tip the muzzle up' thing. Lo and behold the groups changed point of impact slightly and tightened up a WHOLE bunch. 29.2 IMR 4198 in Win '06 cases under afore mentioned boolit. Methinks the Dacron test is in order as I got the desired POI adjustment up a hunert. sundog
