Anyone have a good supplier of high quality alloy rifle bullets made with high velocity alloys like Lyman #2? Particularly interested in projectiles for 338, 375 and 416. Thanks,

quote:Nowdays #2 isn't really considered high speed alloy with the advent of heat treating. One thing #2 will do though is mushroom more like a soft alloy bullet given high enough impact velocity provided it's made with the original formula. From the LBT book I seem to remember the lowest speed #2 will mushroom at is 1500 fps [??]. Anyone remember the velocity Smith published in his tests for #2 per expansion? If FAsmus can't supply those bullets try Bullshop. Bullshop Bullets [ 04-05-2003, 05:40: Message edited by: aladin ]

I don't know of a #2 alloy bullet supplier, but may know someone who might. I make my own #2 alloy and buy my Antimony and Tin from Bill Ferguson, www.theantimonyman.com Bill supplys a great deal of foundry spec alloy to commerical casters and could probably point you in the right direction. Bill is a lead alloy specialist, and the very best source for usable, correctly sized Antimony and low temp alloying flux. #2 alloy is a little expensive, but it casts a great bullet, I have cast a .416 for a friend, they were beautiful bullets.
