I'm thinking about picking up a 45 auto. I'm a fan of Lee 6 cavity molds for quantity production. I know their 230 gr swc tl will do the trick, but I was wondering if the 200 gr rf will function through a 45 auto?

Hi Paul

I have found as well as others that every 45 acp is a different animal when it comes to cycling. That said I think most will handle rn 200 and 230 fine. My favorite is the 200 swc lee tl in alox for target practice, great accuracy in my 45"s. Alot has to do with tweaking the mag and polishing the feed lip. Steve

Lee doesn't use cherries to cut a mold cavity, all Lee bullet molds are lathe bored, the form tool stands still and the blocks turn.

you are right i still think of all things the old way, it is hard for me to even think of saying
lee has a program for a mold.
makes me think their molds should cost like 5.00 cause nobody is working on them just a bunch of computers.

Oh somebody still works on them, now the RCBS made in India could sell for 5.00 if they wanted! I just finally got rid of the last one of those on e-bay, it sold for half of what I paid for it, but I still felt bad for the new owner, NOT Wink

I ended up with a pair of ruger autoloaders, a P-90 45 acp, and P-95 9mm. Guess I need to order up a couple sets of dies, some brass, and some molds Big Grin

Paul; Lee's 228 gr RN was accurate in a couple 45, the Glock really liked it at about 850 fps with reddot or 231. The lee 6 cavity cast buckets full of them, good mold, good bullet design.

I have not been happy with the Lee TL moulds, but I really like their 230 gr. truncated cone bullet with the standard lube groove. It is available in the 6-cavity mould. It shoots extremely well in my Colt Gold Cup and the S&W 625. I use AR brass in the S&W. My standard load is 6.0 gr. Unique with a Rem. 2-1/2 primer.

The H&G 68 and most molds similar to it deliver bullets that require some throat work to feed with 100% reliability unless you happen to have a ramped (fully supported) barrel. Some guns require a little, some a lot. Is patient work.

I got have that same mold & the bullets feed in my 1911s & XD. The flat point is pretty large though & could cause some feeding issues.
