Have any of you guys fooled around with this powder to get some starting loads for a swedish mauser. All the published data starts at around 2000 fps and I would like some loads at around 1500 to 1700 fps.

David, Accurate Arms XMP 5744 is fast becoming my favorite cast bullet powder. In reviewing my notes for a variety of cartridges in which I used 5744, I was struck by the consistency of results (both accuracy & velocity) I obtained with it. As you have no doubt discovered, the Swe. Mau. isn't so accurate when velocity climbs much past ~1,750fps. You may want to try 17gr. 5744 and work up to 19, perhaps even 19.5gr., to achieve the 1,500 to 1,700fps. ...Maven
