| When there are cheap clones of AA-2, 5, 7, and H-110 on the market?
I don't do any of the powders you mentioned, but I knew a guy who shot 5744 in those cartridges when it was 50 cents a pound. I believe it is a good bit faster than the powders you mention and his results were pathetic. |

| Tried 5744 in my .357mag. when it wasn't $0.50/lb/ (with CB's, naturally) as per Accurate Arms' recommendation. I wasn't pleased with its performance, or rather the lack thereof. The unburned powder didn't help raise my estimation of it either. ...Maven |

| Speaking of surplus powders, a case crammed full of WC860 behind a 160 grain condom out of a cut down old swede dropped a 190 lb 8 point white tail for me yesterday morning, (I figure that was a 25 cent shot due to the condom). To stay on topic, I do have a swede set up for cast, but so far it's only the pointy jumptrap design I have really dialed in. Also that M96 is full length and doesn't fit in the gun racks easily enough for daily use. I'm hoping to have the Oldfellar bullet figured out in time for next year. BD |
