Does anyone know if it's safe to use cast bulets in a Desert Eagle pistol?

Sharpshooter, sir; Doesn't look like anyone else is going to address this query, so.... WITHOUT any personal experience with the Desert Eagle, it is apparently impossible to clean the gas system because of the way the gun is constructed. That means that if the system gets fouled by vaporized lead, or even small slivers of lead from the bullets, you will soon end up with an expensive single-shot. I got this info from writers whom I more-or-less trust, some years back. Having said that, I have to say that I've ALSO heard such things as "You can't shoot cast in an M1 Garand (or Carbine) 'cuz it fouls the gas system." Now THAT statement is utter BS, from personal experience. Right this moment, my Garand is still uncleaned from firing over 300 rounds of cast bullets, and the gas system is perfectly functional WITHOUT leading or anything except normal powder fouling, as far as I can see. The bore is likewise brilliantly shiny and clean, without leading of any sort. I've fired over 500 consecutive cast-bullet rounds in an M1 Carbine, as well, without fouling or functioning trouble. I believe the Desert Eagle is more vulnerable to fouling than these rifles because the gas tube is very small in diameter. I reckon if it was mine, I would NOT shoot cast loads in it....but then, I won't own a gun that won't shoot cast loads, so it's a moot point! Regards from BruceB (aka Bren Mk1)

my buddy AL has shot over 500 cast bullets in his and its still funtioning fine without a gas port cleaning. The bullets were cast by me out of 5050 ww/lyno and lubed with a mixture of 80%felix lube and 20% blue magma hard.

I have a Desert Eagle, not sure what model it is, it's a 44Mag! I have shot cast in it, no problem, except that they don't feed reliably! But, that is because of the bullet design, 240 grain SWC! NOTE: The book DOES say "DO NOT USE UNJACKETED BULLETS"!

Thank ya'll for the info. I read the owner's manual and saw that about not shooting unjacketed bullets, But I also know how owner's manuals will sometimes go out of their way to cover their own butts. Thank ya'll again.
