I know that someone else is shooting this bullet. I've shot 50 rounds using it, but so far my accuracy hasn't been up to par.

Ready to load, my bullets weigh out to around 162gr, sized, lubed and with the gas check installed.

If you have an accurate load using this bullet, I would appreciate knowing your receipe.

As always, I know that even with your proven load data, that I should start off low and work up while keeping an eye out for pressure signs.

Thanks to all,

Rick

I don't shoot that bullet, but it has been around for a while and was Skeeter Skelton's favorite. Skeeter used 2400.

The Lyman manual lists 14.0 gr. 2400 or 15.6 gr. 296/H110, or 15.2 gr. 4227 as max loads.

Some guns don't like some bullets even if you do everything right.

Well if Skeeter used it then the bullet must be a good one! I'm going to shoot some tomorrow loaded with 11.5gr of AA7. We'll see how they do with that powder.

I'm not the best shot in the world, especially when using a handgun, but my groups were so bad using Bullseye that I don't think I'll load any more with it.

I've been thinking about buying some 2400 anyway as I want to try it in my 41 mag when I start reloading for it. Maybe it'll work with this bullet. I'm new to casting and cast bullet shooting so I'm really in a learning curve with it.

I'm assuming that we are talking .357 mag....

One of my all time favorite loads with this boolit is with 10.0 HS7. Not a full house load, but very accurate out of a particular S&W on hand. sundog

SD, yep 357mag,,,,,,my bad, I forgot to state the caliber. .

Well I'll get some HS7 as I shot 200 rounds today using Bullseye, PowerPistol, AA7 & TiteGroup and my results left something to be desired. Rested, shooting at 25 yards, my best groups came from using 6.5gr of the PP. Until I get some other powders, I'll be working around this loading. I also shot a couple of groups with a loading of 6.8gr and the groups opened up. My best group shot today with my lead boolits was around 2" while I did a couple with jacketed bullets at around 1".

I'm cleaning the gun as we speak and I can't find any leading at all. This is a good bullet, I've just got to find a sweet spot with it somehow.

If you cannot find Sundog's HS7, then use BlueDot at the same loading. The two powders are very close in that 357 using that weight of boolit. ... felix

Thanks for that information and keep it coming. I'm a babe in the woods when it comes to cast bullets. If I ever get my act together (and the materials) I'm going to make up a batch of your famous lube.

The Lyman 358156 is my light to mild load bullet in my .357 and I usually load it in .38 spec brass . Use WW + 1 % tin and LBT soft blue lube and either 3.5 Bullseye or 4.0 gr of Red Dot. Size bullets based on your cylinder throat meas. For my hot .357 loads I use the Lyman 358429( 170 to 173 gr depending on alloy) and LBT soft blue lube. If keeping loads in the moderate range use WW or if pushing to max I heat treat to 20 or 23 BHN. If I had easy access to Linotype I would use it in my hot loads. I have used 2400 and H110 the most. Lil'gun would also be a good one to try.

I have shot more 357 lead bullets than I can remember but I like HP38 or Win 231 the best.

I shot a lot of 2400 in my 44mag in the past and after a hundred or so rounds I had to clean the gun to get the powder crud out of everything. For this reason I don't shoot 2400. Others may have had different experience but this is what I have found out.

Thought I would mention that I am now happily using WC 820(f) where I usta use Blue Dot or HS 7. So far, it has matched HS 7 data.
