A friend has a .38/55 H&R 1871 Target Rifle with a 1-18 twist barrel which requires a cast bullet from .380 to .381 inch diameter. He does not do his own bullet casting, so the Judge has to depend on buying cast bullets on the market. I just got through looking in Midway on the internet for .38/55 bullet. I read one of the recommendations for a cast bullet for the .38/55 and it was certainly no recommendation. The fellow said the 255 grain cast bullets were supposed to be .380 inch diameter, but when he miked them they ran .383 and up. The Judge is looking for a cast bullet from 245 grains to 265 grains that mikes at .380 inch diameter. Can someone recommend a cast bullet manufacturer who casts a .38/55 that really does mike out to .380 inch and no more than .381 inch. Flat-points or rounded as it is a single shot anyway. He is using 2400 powder with this rifle and is trying to develop a target load with a velocity in the 1,200 fps to 1,300 feet per second range. Thanks ... Tom Purdom
