I recently picked up a 9x57 mauser and I would like to slug the barrel. Does anyone have or could cast 2 or 3 lead slugs or balls of .360 or larger diameter that I could use? I would also like a couple of .320 or so to slug an 303 smle that I have. paying for them and shipping is not a problem. Thanks!!!! *We Band of 45-70er's* "Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Theodore Roosevelt-

Check your local fishing shop, some have a range of plain lead round ball sinkers some of which you may find close to the size you want.

What about muzzle loader balls? Many diameters. Pinch a lead ball between two pieces of reasonably tight fitting dowel and you could use 000 buckshot (approx. .36 cal) 00 works good for .30 cal. Approx. 0.32... Upsetting pure lead is not that hard. The buckshot usually has a bit of antimony and a trifle harder. Actually the "miking" with a micrometer is harder... Luck. Happy Trails. PS Yes, the fishing sinkers work good too if you can find something in the right size and pure lead. Often the home made are quite hard from unknown alloy content. Luck.

Oh yes, getting old. Casting the bore with a sulfur slug is a no brainer too and standard in machine tool trade. Garden sulfur is fine and cheap. Heat the sulfur gently. Plug the bore after a light coat of something. WD40 or better. Pour. Push out gently. Mike. Friend did a couple slugs with his lead melting pot. If it gets too hot and the sulfur catches fire, IT STINKS. Slip the lid back on the pot to put out the fire and go a bit slower. Luck. Happy Trails.
