Dunno about the Contenter shooten, but I've sent two or three of these down the rd-- the bore ride dia was too small. I do have the Lee 180 gr [about a '291 clone] which is now recut to PB which shoots very well. That nose dia with ww alloy is .3015 which slightly engraves my 30 cal barrels.

And that's the rub with the '291. If you acquire one make sure that mold will place the bore ride in contact with the land tops. Otherwise that rider section is just a useless hood of sorts-- and defeats the purpose of the design.

moon,
I have sent many of them down a 14" T/C with a muzzle brake. What aladin said is pretty good advice. I have 5 different moulds in 308/311291. Most drop at .299-.301 on the nose. One drops at .297 which is a little undersized in the nose.
The .299-.301's shoot just fine out of my T/C. Orygun

I have two molds for #311291, a single cavity from the early 60s and a two cavity from the 90s. The early one has a very tight bore riding nose and the two cavity is a bit sloppy in the nose department. fixed it up using beagle's system which I like to call "Beaglizing." Bullets from both molds do very well in several model 94 Winchesters and a 336 Marlin. I haven't tried them yet in my 30-30 Contender.
I did shoot some RCBS 30-180-FN bullets in the Contender at full power. Just the first load I tried did four inches at one hundred yards, which just happens to be about the best I can do with anything in that gun
I've got to find time and do up some #311291s up to try in the TC.
Seems like since I retired, I have less time to do what I want than when I was working. Something ain't quite right here.

Ain't that the truth. I do get to shoot a little bit more but usually seem to have a long line of those wanting my time.

I have the Lee clone of this mold as well and it does well in my Contender carbine barrel but not as well as I would like. I like cloverleafs at 100 but seldom get them. This bullet shoots 1-1 inches just like the jacketed. It does this well in my M1894 Winchester made in 1943.
