Buckshot...since we're going through the raining season again here in TN and I can't shoot I decided to glassbed the Austrian. The action really has a decent lug for bedding. I relieve the stock and handguard cover where they contact the barrel which is right at the nose of the stock. Don't think the barrel is really touching anywhere else. I lessen the pressure of the handguard cover too. While on the subject I took some 150 cast 357 boolits from an RCBS mould, one grease groove, lubed them and then put them through the Lee .329 sizer. Shot six of them over 28 gr of surplus 844. I was able to get a .338 gascheck on them also. Shot them at 25 yds and they cut a damn hole. Hell had to load six more for my 100 yd testing when it quits raining and the stock work is done. As usual will keep you posted. We'll see if I can shrink that 100 yd group.

Max...I have Bertram brass made for this caliber. You know we are talking about the 8x56 Rimmed cartridge for the Austrian Rifle right? Okay, right now I'm using about 28 grs of surplus 844 with a tuff of dacron over the powder. The bullet is about a 200 gr cast from a Lee mould. Got it sized to .329. If you need more info just holler for me or Whitworth.

........As I mentioned, your 2" groups at 100 yards is very good IMHO. These carbines have some wierd throat and leade dimensions, plus that whippy skinny barrel on top of it all. My M95 /34 conversion to 30-40 is delightfully accurate so any problem isn't in the action.

I'm hoping that rainy days aren't too far off as one project is to 'do' the M95. Float the barrel at the handguard/forend/noseband point and relieve the pressure of the rear sight. You can check the Castpics website for some load data I'd generated in the thing. I've sized .357 FLGC slugs to .332" and the 125gr JHP's did very well at 50 yards. The 140's and 180's had quite a bit of lead extruded from the nose.

I'm also waiting for Graf to get the Boxer primed stuff in. I don't really want to do a lot more until then. I think that possibly the 209 shotshell primers in my converted brass might have a detrimental effect on some of the accuracy potential of the carbine. I have high hopes for it. It just looks too good to NOT shoot well :-)
