When I bought mine a couple of weeks ago SOG had 40 of them. I have been looking for a 45/70 bolt gun for a while. The Siamese mausers I have found are out of sight unless the barrels are shot, or they've been rode hard and put up wet. I waiting for the weather to break so I can shoot it. We had 4 inches of snow on the ground, and the dusting we were supposed to get today is 6 inches so far and still snowing like the dickens. I'm glad I'm retired.

I live on a hill and I've been parking the cars below on the street since the forst 5 inches. The ranges I use are;

1. in a valley about a 1 mile convervation dept. road with a drop of 600 feet.
2. a range on a bluff with a half mile private road with a rise of 500 feet.

All I can do is shoot my Gamo in the basement, and I haven't figured out a way to use primer and powder in it.

At least the sun came out for a while this morning. But it's snowing again now. This hilly country in the snow makes me homesick for flat old Illinois. We had to go to a railroad embankment to use a sled there when I was a Kid.

I have some limes and lemons so I won't get scurvy. <G>

Ed we went shooten yesterday here albeit 24 degrees with a little more wind that pushed it out of the comfort zone. Waded thru maybe 14" of settled snow and enjoyed it.

Somehow my van locked itself.. requiring a 24 mi commute home for a another set of keys...

Yet last eve we had another 6-7" of snowmobile season and our range is gonna have to be plowed to get around now...

Ed,
I bought one a year ago and really enjoyed it. I believe you will, too. However, I just sold it to my shooting buddy. He wanted it in a bad way, so I let him hold it. I used the money as a down payment on a Marlin '95 Cowboy lever gun.

Ed,

I'm shooting a Douglas barreled Siamese Mauser myself. I've had it for quite a while, but never really wrung it out for loads.

Please keep us informed of your trials, successes, and not so well stuff too!
