YES.

Not me though. One of the popular gun mags in the early 1960's had an article where someone did it. Made quite a deal about trying to do it over a campfire. Had trouble getting the melt up to a reasonable temperature.

Long time ago Guns & Ammo had a little article that if a silver bullet was tried in a blackpowder era Colt that being it is so much harder to engrave the rifling then lead that it would possibly blow the gun up.

We looked into it as a promotional idea 15 or 20 years ago and were advised by a shooter who was a jeweller that the shrinkage of silver is so high that silver poured into a bullet mould would look like a raisin when it solidified.

Guy Morrison--silver shrinks so fast it looks like raisin? Kingemsabe are you telling me the Lone Ranger didnt really have silver bullets? What next, the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus? One night the Lone Ranger and Tonto were camped out. During the night the Lone Ranger told Tonto to look up and asked what he saw. Tonto said stars, millions of stars. And what does that tell you? Many things kingemsabe--can tell directions, can tell time. What else? It tells me we are but a small part of God's creation Our maker's universe is vast. What does it tell you kingemsabe? It tells me someone stole our damned tent.

Cman - San Angelo, TX,

What a lovely place! [Wink]

Used to hunt doves not too far east of there. The company I worked for had a dam job on the edge of town, just across from the airport. They sent me down there, during dove season no less, so I just had to partake. [Big Grin]

I actually did enjoy my time there, really. [Razz]

Regards,

C'man,
I had an old gentleman give me a few boxes of asst. gun stuff,in one of those boxes was several boxes of gun holders made by the San Angelo Die Casting & Manufacturing Co. Most of these were un-opened. Well I opened one of those boxes today and the gun holder was wrapped in newspaper....The San Angelo Standard from Oct 3,1977 There was a prominent ad for the Guarantee Carpet Cleaners,,,,I would assume they are still competitors of yours ? 45nut
