| Sundog--
On a related subject--Buckshot's acquisition of a REAL NICE K-38 prompted me to dig into the 38 boolit stocks a few days ago. He is not deeply equipped with handgun castings, but what would you expect from a guy who refers to short guns as "peestols" or "revolters"?
I was able to fix him up, but the stocks are VERY low. Gotta quit pouring all those .366" and .459" rifle things and get back to the .358" and .429" handgun stuff. |

| Sundog, How does your 2 groove Springfield like those 311284s sized? A friend has one that measures .308 x .301 that he'd like to start shooting cast in. I thought I'd provide him with a few samples, including the above mentioned boolit, I have some sized .309 and some at .311. |

| Maineboy, I run those boolits thru a .311 sizer to lube them, almost doesn't touch the metal. Seems like the best load was 24 or 25 IMR 4198. Nice small group at a hunert with no tipping evident. That is a long boolit. Now that the 03 Sporter is bedded (should be finished this week) I'll see if there is any improvement, which I am expecting. For someone else a smaller sizer may work, but I've always run my boolits fat, and it's worked okay for me. One thing I like about the length is that you can really reach into the throat, coupled with a fire formed and neck sized case plus that fat boolit, that's alot for making things concentric. sundog |

| Thanks Sundog. I too size all my 30 caliber boolits at .311 now except for those designated for my Swiss K31s. I have lots more .311 boolits on hand than I do .309s. FYI, We're having a snowstorm right now and I'd like to find something to do besides firing up the snowthrower. Casting and reloading sounds productive. Don't you miss Maine winters? |

| Maineboy, do I miss Maine winters? NO! Don't miss the black flies in summer either. But some of my fondest memories are when I lived there. Shooting my .22 at the sand pit, rat shoots at the dump on Sunday, the aroma of White Pine forests on a warm afternoon, the fishing and hunting. Great place. Would I come back? Yes, probably, if the opportunity were right. And like you said, lubing boolits or maybe fly tieing or knitting next to a good ol' wood stove during the winter months. sundog |
