Is it possible to use it in a WW 1892 remanufactured for .44 mgm, 240 gr tips SWC type? I read sometime that they cause problems in feeding the carbine. Some experience? Thanks in advance, Hector

Length is the issue. A 92 expert will chime in and tell you what the OAL sweet spot is. If you have the length right, the SWC should be no or little problem. The SWC styles were designed for use in revolvers. Often the cannelure location does not suit use in a levergun. Also the sharp edges can make a SWC feed poorly in a levergun. The only way to know for sure is to check the OAL and then see if it feeds and cycles through the action. Better designs for use in a lever action are RNFP or TC bullet styles. These generally feed smoothly but again, check the nose to crimp groove length.

Your answer is very interesting. What is the bullet that you call TC? Thanks, Hector

TC = Truncated cone Look at Saeco design no. 420 below for a typical 44 cal TC design. https://www.redding-reloading....cision-bullet-moulds

OAL is the first hurdle in feeding and once it will feed from the magazine tube, into the carrier, the location of the shoulder of the SWC will determine if it will feed into the chanber. Not 44 Mag, but (357 Mag) I know that in one Rossi 92 that with one of the big name SWCs that OAL of 1.608" will feed, but not chamber and 1.605" will. The shoulder of the SWC catches on the upper edge of the chamber. Some folks slightly chamfer the edge of the chamber, but I do not modify chambers to correct a feeding problem. IO am sure one could modify the angle of the cartridge in the carrier also, but it would likely not take much change to accomplish feeding. If . . .IF you can find some different SWCs then load them to an OAL that will first feed into the carrier then into the chamber
