Grumble- Good catch! However- I'm not sure about the least expensive part. It CAN work out that way if you meet the minimum order qty needed to have them waive the set-up fee. If no - then they aren't the least expensive by a ways... I've heard rumors about other makers out there but have no specific info on them. Sky - Noticed the question marks on the entry for Eagan moulds. His moulds are cherry-cut, only from brass blocks. Though Don will work with you on custom bullets as he has the time available you will be required to pay ALL of the cherry cost and, as I understand it, he will keep the cherry. AC | |||

Sky - A suggestion as an added piece of data to your mould-makers listing.... Several of the mould makers you have listed will NOT make moulds for gas-checked bullets. Their primary interest is "Schuetzen" shooters, who more commonly breech-seat their bullets and don't allow gas-checked bullets in their competitions. Might be worth while noting which ones will not make moulds for gas-checked bullets. Would save the reader and the mould makers some wasted time and phone calls. AC | |||

AC- Would you happen to know which of the makers listed -do not- support GC designs? I'm familiar with the majority of the makers listed and all of them doing custom/semi-custom designs will cut moulds with GC's if that's what you want. I am sure they are in the minority, as you say. Also, some of them may have decided to start making moulds for GC bullets in the few years since I last inquired. However, when I decided to start building a gain-twist rifle for CBA competition, I called several mould makers who make custom lathe-bored moulds, to get a special design of my own made. Several told me they did not make custom medium-bore moulds for GC bullets. IIRC, at the time those included both Rapine and Jones. I know I was surprised, because it is not any big thing so far as I can see to machine the driving band in front of the gas check just as if it was any other driving band farther into the mould. Anyway, I think that of the 6 or 7 custom mould makers I called at the time, 4 or 5 of them did NOT offer moulds for GC bullets. Might be worth inquiry when talking to them for a list such as yours, anyway. AC | |||

Hi Sky - I think I see the source of some confusion here. I should have not used the phrase "you have listed" when I mentioned the makers who did not make moulds for gas-checked bullets in my first post on the subject. Several of the makers to whom I talked are not on your list. Now what I will have to do is go back and see if I can reconstruct who all I called, and add any names which are not currently on your list. If I can get that done (it has been 4-5 years), I will note that they do not make moulds for GC bullets, so the additions don't cause them or the list users any grief. Best wishes, AC | |||
