Needed: Source for pure-lead bullets

I'm trying to work up a very low-velocity load, and need some very soft, pure (or nearly pure) lead bullets. Anyone know a commercial source that might oblige me by running off a few hundred? I realize the price will be high, but it's cheaper and easier than getting into casting my own.

Caliber would be .45-70, desired weight 450-500 gr., softest lube possible.

Thanks.

P: I'm trying to work up a very low-velocity load..

F: For your consideration: I'll make you some 45 caliber bullets for $25/100, you pay the postage. My design would be the Lee 405 grain cast of 20-to-1 lead/tin. Not sized or lubed since you may want to add your own lube of choice. Or I will size to 0.458 only and lube with Javelina. Same price.

There are other bullet designs in hand but from your post the 405 should do as well as any.. By the way, in 20/1 this bullet will be more like 415 grains or even heavier.

Good afternoon,
Forrest

Try www.shooters.com, go to talk and check the cast bullet and blackpowder cartridge boards. Blackpowder Cartridge Shilouette shoooters routinely shoot .45-70, .45-90 with 20/1 or 30/1 lead/tin alloy and likely you could find someone with a bunch of bullets already made up they could provide to you, or you might get someone to cast you some bullets with 99% (certified) lead.

Thanks for the offers and advice. I'm going to order some from the folks that have offered. If they still don't do what I want, I'll go after the BP silhoutte folks.

Thanks again.

Pertinax,

You have a couple PMs about the bullets in question here.

Hurry, or they might accidently get fired!

Good morning,
Forrest
