For a start, big is defined as over .400". .404Jeffery, .416 Rigby, ,450 Dakota, and my baby; the 505 Gibbs. Since I can make a cast bullet for any of the four for about twelve to fifteen cents including wheel weights, gas check and lube, but not my time: it lets me shoot them big boys 30-50 rounds a week apiece. I cast 51 caliber bullets out of wheel weights for the 510 whisper and 50 bmg. I use a Australian CBE mold for a gas checked 950 grain bullet and an NEI mold for an 885 grain. The NEI mold makes a driving band (?) near the nose. Why would this be there? The bullet will not chamber unless it is seated very deep. I made a die to remove the band, but it is not perfect. It leaves about .002" on one side. I have yet to see how the NEI bullet shoots. Here is a link to what the bullet looks like. http://www.facebook.com/photo....673786&id=1313463993 Ranb ______________________________ In my opinion the best accessory to put on a rifle is a silencer. | |||
