Gents, I usually mix lead and tin for .45-70 boolits BHN 9.5, but since I have a supply of W/W's, which tests at BHN 14, I was wondering if good results could be had with it? Velocity range would be 1300 to 1700 fps for targets and deer hunting. Any thoughts on using them for hunting?-JDL

Plain WW is all I use in my 45-70, and nothing has failed yet. Tony

I use 20 pounds of wheel weights mixed with 1 pound of tin in my 45 Colt at 1200 fps with good results -- some expansion - no fragmentation Use same WW mix in 45-70 at close to 2,000 fps with great results -- great expansion - no fragmentation David [ 10-07-2003, 06:27: Message edited by: David Thomas ]

Wheel weights make outstanding bullets for the 45-70. I add a bit more tin for better fill out. Jim
