Sounds painful!

Fortunately, our local bunch here ended up with the bolt bending jig from Les Bauska's shop, so we can merrily bend away at home.

Thanks for the effort and offer, Oldfeller. Lots of guys aren't in a place or position to easily get this done.

You may be up for sainthood.

Could you bend an M96 Swede bolt?

Heck, I'd pay for such a good quality job.

The forging blocks will bend a M95, a M96 Swede and all forms of M98s right on up through the Yugo 48-A. I suspect any form of Mauser can be bent as all of them used a consistent bolt diameter, etc.

Email me at Oldfeller123@aol.com to get the mailing address to send your check, your stripped bolt and your toggle mechanism to.

Your donations go towards the Spring 2004 Root's Roost Rendezvous at a rate of 100% (except for the return postage).

$19 donation gets your bolt bent and your square bolt root put back to specs.

$29 donation gets the above, plus the forged area gets radius ground for maximum scope relief (and you don't have to mess with trying to grind off the forged-over hardened steel).

I am not a saint (far from it), I am raising money for a specific project. It's a hobby, you do it because you enjoy it.

I will have shipped the forging blocks back to Mike in Colorado by the end of next week, so if you have "future plans" to get one bent, roll those plans on up to the front burner and start taking the guts out of that bolt so you can ship it to me.

Ric, you are bad, buddy.

Getting your bold bent doesn't hurt, it feels good -- that's why young men want to get their bolt bent and most old guys aready have.

First you smear thermal resistant jelly all over it, slap the grip blocks around it, clamp it up tight in a big vise, heat it up cherry red with a oxy-acetelene torch and beat it down flat with a 3 pound brass hammer, mashing it real good down at the root. BAM BAM BAM BAM (oooooooh !!)

Then you adjust your ball angle a little with some medium taps to get it hanging just right (ouch ouch) and then you slowly pour a cup of water over the mashed root to cool it off quickly and to partially reharden it and stop all that nasty heat transfer to your body (aaaaaaaahhhhh).

So you start out with a finger-full of thermal jelly and wind up with a cup of water and a lot of steam. Sound familiar?

Anybody want their bolt bent?
