I've got a Lee Deerstalker muzzle loader in .50 cal and i'm looking at getting into casting my own projectiles.

I'm looking at getting either the Lyman Great Plains 395 grain or the Maxi 370 grain mould.

i'm looking at what you fellow shooters would recommend as being the better of the two as this will be primarily for hunting deer.

If there is a better mould other than the above then feel free to let me know.

Thanks

depends on your guns barrels twist. slow 1 in 60 take short bullets like round ball.
slow 1in32 1 in28 like mines, great plains and maxies
you need to try differnt combos of powderand bullets to find the right load for your bp rifle.

I asume you're talking about a Lyman Deerstalker?
If so then it is 1/48 twist and will stabilize both boolits.
Your choice of propellant and amount of shooting may dictate wich boolit you chose. BP and lots of shooting will dictate the Maxi-Ball wich has lots of room for grease.
