If you are in the UCLA area (that's the Upper Corner of Lower Alabama, for those not in the know), I believe I can get you just about as much free lead as you want, and probably free. A fellow who owns an indoor range offered me all the lead I wanted, for the taking, but I don't need it at the moment.

This, of course, is assuming that once-shot lead is as ok to use as wheel weights or others.

You always need free lead, even if you can't think of an immediate use. Just think, lots of lead is an excuse for more bullet molds, whereas bullet molds w/o lead is just frustrating.

Lead from ranges can really vary. The cores of condom bullets are much softer than ww's, and commercial hardcast bullets are harder then ww's. Your best bet is to smelt it down in a large batch, and get a hardness tester to test the melt.
