I want to cast 45 ACP 230 grn bullets but I'm doing it to save money for more plinking not to add a new hobby to my list of things I do.

Is the Lee micro band bullet a good plinker?

p dog shooter,

Is it what they say it is? Mold it, then lube it in a bowl, load and shoot?

I have done just that.

But what I found to work better mold it, lite alox lube, size them in one of their push through sizers. Lube again. Then load

It still very fast and works well.

I use a cut open gallon jug with small opening near top, put in a bullets drop in lube shake then around dump them on to wax paper spread them around let dry.

One can lube lots of bullets in a short time.

it is if your lead and mold combination is appropriate for your bbl's size.
452 is generally good enough for a 45 acp.
use about 1/4 the amount of lube you think you need.

Not a stupid question. In my experience lee cast bullet designs shoot very accurately. I got one of the 200 gr swc tumble lube molds, at the time it was the only 6 cavity lee mold I could find in stock, I really wanted the 200 rf.

As is typical with the lee 6 shooters, you cast a pile of bullets in a hurry. The tumble lube is a quick albeit somewhat messy process.

The accuracy has been excellent, so I haven't bothered to get the 200 rf mold.

I at one time had a 38 micro-groove tumble lube mould from Lee. (I may still have it, am working out of state and can't check...) At any rate, the projectiles weren't sized, just loaded after tumble lubing, and I ended up running the loaded rounds through a sizer to eliminate the bulges in the case so the darned things would chamber.

I would do what has already been recommended if you are dead set on a Lee. If not, buy a Lyman, SAECO or one of the H&Gs for 45 Auto that are always on ebay, size one time, load and go. Life is too short for extra work. You get what you pay for, and a microlube mold takes a shortcut you have to make up somewhere else, in my estimation.

But I am seldom in agreement with the rest of the world...

Ted I agree with Paul on the Lee 200 swc TL they shoot accurately in my Colt. It is my favorite paper puncher. The 230 works well also. I load them as LLA as cast,no need for sizing in my pistol.

They work surprizingly well. I do size them before loading. I also run all cast bullet auto pistol ammo through a LEE FACTORY CRIMP DIE. This pretty well eliminates any possible feed problems. I lube tumble lube bullets by smearing some liquid Alox lube on a piece of wax paper, than laying the bullets on thier sides, and rolling them in the lube, that way the lube doesn't get on the base and nose, much less messy.

check out www.castbullets.com

NOE makes some very nice aluminum moulds.

I have purchased thirteen of them in the last fourteen months, both rifle and pistol, and have five more on order.
