Ranch Dog

I have several of his molds for my 45/70's
Can be used with either standard lube or Lee Liquid Alox

He has a 350 gr mold coming in soon that I will be buying

Do yourself a big favor and get a Lee 405gn HB mold. It's historically correct, easy to cast, and like most 45-70 bullets, can be driven with cat-sneeze loads all the way to shoulder bruising velocities with good accuracy. I tumble lube with a liquid alox/paste wax mix, and shoot as sized, though conventional lubing and sizing produces similar results. The Lee 500gn GC is also a lot of fun, though I think there are less probelms with seating with the PB design.
Really, for thin skinned hunting purposes, any .458 projectile from 300 to 500+ grains is going to provide essentially equal results at a wide range of velocities.
Honestly, I find my 45-70 the "funnest" of all for casting, reloading and shooting.

Albatross.

Try the JIM459405 mould from Buffalo Arms. It works great with IMR4198 in my Ruger #1.
