Repaired my Lyman Model 45 Lube sizer today and it works great. What I wound up doing is weld a flat washer to the end of the lube shaft (cause my shaft was sheared off at the base). This worked good because the weld filled the hole of the washer, and kept the other side from the need for any machining. I chucked the shaft in my lathe and turned down the washer to fit the cavity in the base of the luber housing. Then whilst it was on the lathe I filed a groove for an "O" ring to completely seal the shaft. I made a steel base (larger plate steel) for the sizer, which would make any possibility of loosing lube remote. Also makes a quik base to take on and off the bench with wing nuts. It doesn't seem strong enough for a 455 LFN 320gr w/WW lead. I tried to size it down to 454 and it was to much strain for the little press, and the bullet got stuck in the die, so I wound up running them through a Lee .454 w/gas check then I lubed the bullet in a 454 die on the Lyman. Perfectly filled the grooves with no mess. I'm jazzed!!

marlinlover: Nice work! The O-ring should help, too. Lyman put one into their later 450's with the inserted baseplate, but with not enough "meat" outside the groove they still leak. Your sub-base is just the ticket; I oughta make some up for my 4 Lymans (a #1, two #45's and a late #450). floodgate
